Radiology Business Management Association Official Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Over RBMA’s 52-year history, we have overcome various hurdles and aligned to new ways of thinking. As the extraordinary events of 2020 continue to redefine how we live and work—and the depth and breadth of systemic inequalities are laid bare—we are evolving our strategy.

Our membership and leadership do not reflect the diversity of the populations we serve, and we are holding ourselves accountable. As an organization powered by its members, RBMA pledges to focus on facilitating a culture characterized by inclusive systems, built on a foundation of respect and appreciation for diversity in all its forms. We aim to foster a community where everyone can connect, belong and grow – regardless of their background. We recognize that diverse viewpoints are essential to driving innovation and untangling the complex issues that face the radiology industry.

To fulfil this pledge, RBMA has established a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force, that is charged with conducting a comprehensive analysis of our current state, gathering both quantitative and qualitative data and identifying our biggest opportunity areas to enact change. This will better equip us to identify and address the needs of our members and staff, thereby charting an actionable and measurable path forward. The need for greater diversity of membership and increasing equity, inclusion, and member belonging cannot be addressed through a single program or initiative – DEI must be embedded in all that RBMA does.

RBMA’s greatest strength as an organization is and will always be our members. Through this journey, we ask that you continue to engage, share your insights and challenge us on how we can lead this critical movement. Meaningful change will take effort and dedication from us all. It will not happen overnight, but we are committed to both immediate and long-term action toward a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.

Join us on this journey.
