The Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) is pleased to share its 2026 Advocacy Priorities, building on strong legislative momentum from 2025 and reaffirming RBMA’s commitment to protecting radiology practices, advancing patient access, and promoting fair reimbursement. As healthcare policy continues to evolve at both the federal and state levels, RBMA’s 2026 agenda focuses on proactive, data-driven advocacy, grassroots engagement, and amplifying patient and practice voices to support a sustainable future for radiology.
Key 2026 priorities include:
Challenging Efficiency Factors: Demonstrating why blanket efficiency factor applications are inappropriate for radiology and advocating for metrics that accurately reflect the unique complexities of our specialty.
Supporting MARCA: Advocating for passage of the Medicare Access to Radiology Care Act to ensure full Medicare reimbursement for services performed by qualified Radiologist Assistants under direct supervision.
Moving Legislation at the State Level: Expanding state advocacy efforts by monitoring high-impact legislation, mobilizing RBMA chapter leaders, and tracking Medicaid reimbursement and policy changes that affect radiology practices nationwide.
Breast Cancer Testing Access: Supporting no-cost follow-up diagnostic breast cancer testing, eliminating patient out-of-pocket costs after abnormal screening results.
Empowering Patient Voices: Expanding the Radiology Patient Advocacy Network (RPAN) to integrate patient stories, survey data, and real-world impact into legislative and regulatory discussions
Bridging the Rural Divide: Promoting policies that expand virtual supervision, streamline licensing and credentialing, and address workforce and infrastructure barriers to ensure equitable access to diagnostic imaging in rural and underserved communities.
Together, these priorities reflect RBMA’s continued leadership in shaping policies that protect radiology practices while ensuring patients nationwide have access to timely, high-quality diagnostic care. >> Click here to view the full 2026 Advocacy Priorities document.
