But most data mining is done on structured data. What if tools were available to mine an even more powerful source of data - unstructured data. Six industry leaders, including the AMA recently announced collaborating to improve the prior authorization process. In the statement, they said “Prior authorization approvals can be burdensome for health care professionals, hospitals, health insurance providers, and patients because the processes vary and can be repetitive. Streamlining approval processes will enhance patient access to timely, appropriate care and minimize potential disruptions.”
Nowhere is that more true than in independent radiology, where prior authorizations are required for the majority of procedures. While the industry works to enact wider change, several innovative practices and solution providers are actively working to find a better way to manage prior authorizations in radiology. Some have even implemented fully market capable solutions.
This session will profile one those fully implemented solutions as a case study and explore the lessons learned from that journey for others considering this type initiative.
