The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Quality Payment Program includes an interesting reporting option for small groups and individual practitioners. If your practice is made up of less than 10 radiologists but you report to Medicare using multiple distinct taxpayer identification numbers (TINs), you could consolidate the TINs by forming a “virtual group” for QPP reporting purposes. Virtual group reporting also works for individual practitioners and small independent groups... Details

Among the many responsibilities of a radiology practice manager is ensuring systems are in place to protect employees and patients in the event of a disease outbreak like the past month’s novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak in mainland China. Although the risk was low in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) both issued lengthy preparedness recommendations for ambulatory care and... We've had a difficult time getting listed as participating providers in the provider directories of multiple insurers. They do not do a good job of informing our patients of the provider networks for hospital based providers. We one insurer, we had to establish a separate tax ID for our Interventional practice so that we could be listed with the other specialists. We had to enter into a separate contract to provide E & M services in our IR outpatient practice. When I have inquired ... Details

Interventional radiology as a subset of radiology marketing is quite unique because of the highly clinical nature of the services, says Dianne Keen, Director of Business Development & Marketing for Northside Radiology Associates in Atlanta. Unfortunately, this is not always appreciated when a marketer is asked to promote a procedure like uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).
“The marketing of IR is a completely different beast, and unlike marketing most other radiology service... Details

Although compensation for marketing positions varied widely across the country, the median compensation was trending upward for all the positions they tracked. Marketing managers and vice... Details

According to a study by the experience management firm Qualtrics and the venture capitalist firm Accel, 83 percent of millennials say they are satisfied at their current job, but 46 percent expect to change jobs in the next 12 to 18 months. If you are a practice leader, the idea that even happy young professionals in your organization could still be contemplating changing jobs is scary.
Millennials as a group are more willing to relocate for a new job than older employees and... Details

The world of medical research is one of innovation, imagination and infinite possibilities. The world of medical coding isn’t. Coding exists to bring structure and order to the art and science of medicine. To clearly define situations by what they are and are not so that they can be reimbursed fairly and efficiently.
Occasionally, these two worlds collide. When an ordering physician faced with an unusual medical problem decides on an unorthodox (but research-informed)... Details

I have clarifying question. CPT code 76140 was also created for overread and second opinion along with modifier 26. Also, some insurance carrier to include CMS requires the use of modifiers 26 and/or 77. If a provider request an overread or a second opinion, when should FCS should use CPT 76140 or Modifiers 26 and 77?

Everyone in healthcare, including managers and executives, understands that in times of crisis, they will likely be part of the response. However that does not make leading your organization through times of great uncertainty any easier.
