Understanding an Elusive Enemy
Presented by Sam Khashman
President & CEO, ImagineSoftware
Although recent cyber-attacks have received a significant amount of media attention, healthcare organizations continue to represent an easy and lucrative target for bad actors. This presentation will provide an insight into the world of cyber-warfare aimed at healthcare organizations, the elusive enemy, his motivations, and incentives. Illustrating 'what is at stake' by analyzing recent breaches and by understanding some of the preferred methods that bad actors use to infiltrate healthcare organizations, the session will help raise awareness and provide actionable methods for loss prevention.
The Evolution of MIPS: For Better or Worse
Presented by Wendy Lomers, CPA, MBA, FRBMA
Chief Financial Officer, Acclaim Radiology Management
Most radiologists, like you, have been reporting MIPS and are beginning to feel comfortable with the requirements. Some have been holding onto the hope that it will just go away. Not likely! It is more likely that it will continue to evolve. Those who have embraced the inevitable may be wondering if there is something more you can do to improve your score or to just make it easier. You may also wonder if there is something new that you should know. Wendy’s session will not cover the basics of MIPS but will focus on key factors to consider when weighing the various options and will hopefully impart some new knowledge that might improve your success!
She will review the reporting options available to MIPS participating physicians and groups including information about QCDR reporting and the Virtual Group reporting option. She will indicate many of the benefits along with the challenges associated with these various options.
She will also delve into the difference between the Quality Measures’ “percentage performance” and the “points” that make up the physician’s Quality score. A better understanding of how one of these affects the other will help maximize the physician’s Quality Component score and ultimately the MIPS Composite Performance Score.
Her discussion will include examples of the improvement activities that radiologists are using to meet that category. She will also review the R-Scan option that is available from the American College of Radiology which successfully achieves multiple improvement activities and introduces the physicians to Clinical Decision Support which is a future Medicare requirement.
The Cost Category has not always been radiology relevant in the past and Wendy will review how the expected increase in weighting of the Cost Category will affect radiologists.

With the new legislative session just underway many of the bill proposals won’t be public until early March. He will provide an update on these policy discussions and the prognosis for change.
CPT Coding and Its Impact on Radiology
Presented by Jeff Majchrzak, BA, CIRCC, RCC
Vice President, Radiology and Cardiology Consulting Services, Panacea, A Career Step Company
For as many years as people have been in the business of radiology, it seems like CPT coding always is a topic. This year (like the last 25+) is no different. What is different is the framework of the codes and the move to bundled/packaged/collapsed codes. Even if you are spot-on with the CPT assignment, lurking just below the surface are other parts of the equation that have a major impact of whether you get paid or not for the services your providers have performed.
In this 75 minute session Jeff will discuss some of the current hot-buttons in CPT coding, where you can find core info that you must have to allow appropriate charge capture, explain CCI and its nuances and then allow time for Q&A.
