RBMA CODING ACADEMY sponsored by
Interventional Radiology Coding Course*
Jeff Majchrzak, BA, R.T.(R)(ARRT), CNMT, RCC, CIRCC and Ezequiel “Zeke” Silva III, MD, RCC
9 a.m.-4 p.m. (light continental breakfast 8:30-9 a.m.) Day One
This two-day session will focus on CPT/HCPCS code assignment and assist the attendee in understanding core rules, regulations and definitions needed to code Interventional Radiology (IR) services confidently. Modifiers, global periods, coding resources, CCI edits, MUEs and physician documentation also will be covered. A major part of this gathering will be to review, discuss and perform “hands-on” coding of difficult IR procedure reports focusing on a “best-practice” methodology of coding and billing. A detailed discussion of 2012 AMA CPT code changes and updates relative to IR procedures will be included as part of this seminar. Time also will be spent discussing new code development, code valuation and the ACR’s payment advocacy activities. Vascular and non-vascular procedures will be included in this two-day session with a special focus on biliary and GU procedures.

9 a.m.-4 p.m. (light continental breakfast 8:30-9 a.m.) Day Two
The second day of this program will consist exclusively of hands-on coding of difficult IR cases by the attendees. This intense workshop setting will allow you to compare your coding to that of your fellow attendees as well as the coding experts leading the course. Registrants are welcome to submit up to two of their own difficult IR cases. The instructors will review all submitted cases and may select up to 20 cases to include as part of the course. Submitted cases must include the following information: Type of case (e.g., head, abdominal, etc.), relevant case details, and the codes used by your facility. Cases that do not include this information will not be considered. Please email your cases to angela.carroccia@rbma.org no later than Sept. 16, 2011.
At the conclusion of this seminar the attendee should be able to:
- Understand and explain rules, definitions, vascular anatomy and selection and application of catheter placement codes
- Identify valuable and valid tools to assist in coding IR procedures
- Explain MUEs and CCI edits as well as modifier assignment/application
1-5 p.m.
L.E.A.D. With Trust – Achieving High Performance With Influence in Challenging Times*
Wally Hauck, PhD, Certified Speaking Professional
Influential leaders are able to get more accomplished through others. When a leader has influence, he or she has the ability to create trusting environments, giving others the freedom to make the right decisions instead of depending upon the leaders to tell them exactly what to do. Today, more and more managers have less and less control over people and less and less time to tell them what to do. Instead, leaders need the full cooperation and trust of peers and employees to accomplish goals and execute strategic objectives.
According to the Society for Human Resource Management, the top three issues facing organizations in the next ten years are:
- Attracting and retaining high quality talent
- Creating cultures of trust and employee engagement
- Executing strategic goals more quickly and effectively and with less resistance
To manage these issues leaders must develop their influencing skills. This highly interactive program will teach you to do just that.
At the conclusion of this seminar the attendee should be able to:
- Explain why and how our leadership model must evolve from control to influence to address the enormous challenges we face in the new knowledge economy
- List the key elements of an effective interpersonal interaction that creates a positive, trusting and productive communication every time
- Outline a conflict resolution process that enables everyone to address difficult situations immediately and improve accountability
- Explain how to reduce wasted time significantly while improving the quality of communication
- Explain how to enable employees and peers to take greater responsibility for their performance without dependence on management
4-5 p.m.
